Course
Description:
This
course gives participants the Knowledge to perform an
OSHA type inspection on various types of cranes and
rigging used in industry and construction. Topics covered
include overhead and gantry cranes, lattice boom cranes
on rubber with out riggers and crawler type, rough terrain
telescoping boom cranes. Rigging equipment such as chain,
wire, rope, metal mesh, and synthetic fiber slings will
be studied along with lifting components such as pins,
shackles, hooks, spreader bars, barrel lifts and magnets.
The use and inspection of forklift trucks. Servicing
multi-piece wheels.
Course
Highlights:

Workshops
are used for load weight calculations, crane load
charts, use of rigging tables.

Hands-on
demonstrations of test equipment such as digital
levels and calipers, chain wear gages, and sheave
gages.

Crane
models and rigging examples are used.

Each
student will receive:

materials binder, which includes the OSHA
standards, letters of interpretation, compliance
directives, and various crane inspection check
lists.
- Rigger's
Handbook by Broaderick & Bascom Rope Company.
- The
Crosby Group Inc., General Catalog.
- Chain
wear gage, from Cambell Chain Company.
- A
course Completion Certificate.
